About the Journal
International Journal of Pesantren Studies (INJOPS) is an international, peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary research on pesantren (Islamic boarding schools), Islamic education, religious scholarship, and their relationships with society, culture, and contemporary transformations.
The journal provides an academic platform for original research examining pesantren as institutions of Islamic learning, intellectual traditions, religious authority, and sociocultural development. Its scope encompasses Islamic educational thought and practices, classical Islamic scholarship, Qur’anic and Hadith studies within pesantren traditions, Islamic intellectual history, leadership and institutional governance, religious moderation, community engagement, and the intersections of pesantren with social, political, economic, and technological change.
INJOPS welcomes theoretically informed, methodologically rigorous, and empirically grounded contributions from scholars worldwide. Through interdisciplinary and comparative perspectives, the journal seeks to strengthen international academic dialogue and contribute to the development of pesantren studies within broader conversations on Islamic studies, education, and the humanities and social sciences.
